Commemorates the 60th anniversary of the legendary Boeing 737 family by featuring the original Boeing prototype livery worn by NASA for safety and technology testing in the 1960s.
The very first Boeing 737 rolled off the assembly line on December 17, 1966. Sixty years later, there's no better time to look back at the beginnings of what has been the most successful family of commercial aircraft ever. What started as a short-haul aircraft with a capacity for 100 passengers has grown into an entire family of aircraft, with over 12,500 produced to date – and another 3,600 on order at Boeing. The small series begins with the N515NA: It started as the prototype of the 737-100 series and was later operated by NASA for three decades before being retired in 2003 as the very last aircraft of the 100 series. Today, it is on display at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, Washington.
